London Fashion Week: The Swedish School Of Textiles Fashion Show

BDA London attended the Swedish School Of Textiles Graduation show at London Fashion Week. Showcasing their BA and Masters students end of term work, the catwalk hosted 21 students collections.

Here is what Clemens Thornquist, professor in fashion design at the Swedish School Of Textiles had to say about the students and their show...

What if degree shows instead of tradeshows would set the agenda for the development of fashion business? From what different perspectives might we then be entering the world? What different questions might we ask if we would be, really, dressing differently? What differences would this make to the world?

Dreams are so powerful. They can blind people to reality. But, as someone noted, they can also inspire us to imagine that things could be radically different from what they are today. And even more importantly, they can convince us of how we can evolve towards the future.

Like with the dream, the important thing with degree work is not to measure up to today's standards. The important thing is to act in a speculative, yet tangible dream, beyond the salesman's mere vision and strategies, with the power to demonstrate concrete possible and thinkable ways towards a future.
