London Exhibitions: Anni Albers At The Tate Modern

The BDA London team headed over to the Tate Modern for an evening exploring the work and practise of weaver, Anni Albers. Starting from her time at the Bauhaus Art School, initially taking a textiles class, weaving became her key form of expression. The exhibition explores her influence on the next generation of art students and weavers and how her pieces transcend art and design to influence others.

This is the first major exhibition exploring Anni Albers' work in the UK. Exploring her concepts, planning and final pieces.

We all too often forget how much artistry goes into this art form now that the majority of weaving is mechanical produced.

We really enjoyed the Anni Albers exhibition, especially the final room where you get to sample materials and different types of weaving in addition to a full screen showcasing real time weaving and the hand and loom weaving production process.
