Top Takeouts from Jacket Required AW 18/19

The BDA London team this week returned to Jacket Required for the AW 18/19 edition, on the lookout for newness across colour, print, fabric and styling details for the upcoming season.

Numerous designers showcased revived designs from archive collections, originally from the 70's and 90's, while others displayed fashion forward technicality across hardware, design details and accessories.

Here are our top 5 influential takeouts from Jacket Required for AW18/19.

1 /  Camouflage Revived

A constant in menswear, camo prints have a strong presence for the AW18/19 season across a wide variety of designs, tones and fabrications. Shown in outerwear, shirting and particularly bags, camouflage remains a key print.

2 /  Technical Constructions

Detachable linings were found to be a staple design detail in creating hybrid outerwear pieces, focusing on functionality and technical construction. The sophisticated design opts for a premium look and feel most suited to garments and brands with a smart aesthetic.

3 /  Maize Yellow & Cobalt

This colour combination is the pairing of the season as warm hues of maize yellow and cool tones of cobalt sat alongside each other for a vibrant contrast. The complimentary duo was seen colour blocked on apparel, updating classic retro sports looks and visual merchandising displays.

4 /  Noisy Textures

Speckled prints and nepped textures came through across apparel and footwear, printed on sneaker soles or panelled in tracksuit bottoms. An easy update for the AW18/19 season, which was seen in many colour variations.

The athleisure movement has inspired new fabric mixes for the upcoming AW18/19 season, with one such combination seen at Jacket Required being textural borg and sporty nylon fabric blocking.
