Copenhagen AW21 Digital Fashion Week

Updated: May 14, 2021

The BDA London team ‘attended’ Copenhagen Fashion Week on a dedicated digital platform this season amid the continued Coronavirus restrictions. The show announced its fully digital approach earlier this year, in response to the ongoing restrictions. Not only were catwalk shows cancelled, but popular tradeshows CIFF and Revolver were also postponed in light of Denmark's current trade fair ban.

Challenges and uncertainty continue to haunt the industry for the seasons ahead, with brands and designers forced to reevaluate their catwalk shows, and adopt a new mentality towards budgets and seasonal ranges. Read more about this in our 'new normal' feature.

Copenhagen Fashion Week, viewed from behind a screen, certainly hit a different note without the buzz of pre-show street style and the physical atmosphere of the shows and trade fairs. A new found advantage was the ease and the accessibility of the shows.

Conceptual direction across the shows did not fall short, considering the circumstances, as designers became more experimental in the videography and art direction of their individual shows. View our top 5 apparel takeouts below.
